Resize Images to 20KB

This free image resizer changes the width and height of JPG, PNG and WebP images by exact pixels, by percentage, or to a print size such as 4×6 inch at 300 DPI. Keep the aspect ratio so nothing looks stretched, and resize many images at once. Smaller dimensions usually mean a smaller file, but the final size depends on the picture, so check the result. Your images are processed in your browser.

How to resize an image

Three steps, on phone or computer.

  1. Add your images

Drop one or more images into the box, or tap it to choose files.

  2. Enter the new size

Choose Pixels, Percentage or Print size. For pixels, type a width and height and keep the aspect ratio switched on to avoid stretching.

  3. Resize and download

Press Resize Images and download each resized file. The new size is shown in the file name.

Tips for dimensions and image quality

Get a good result and a smaller file.

  • For a smaller file, reduce the dimensions. A picture with fewer pixels usually saves as a smaller file. Resizing does not guarantee an exact size such as 20KB, so check the result and resize again if needed.
  • Lower the quality for JPG or WebP. Quality applies to JPG and WebP output. PNG is lossless, so the quality setting does not shrink it.
  • Need an exact target size? Use the Image Compressor, which is built for reaching a file size.
  • Make images smaller, not much larger. Shrinking keeps a picture sharp. Enlarging a lot can look soft because no new detail can be added.
  • Keep the aspect ratio on unless you need an exact width and height. Turn it off only when you want to fill a fixed size, and expect some stretching.
  • Print sizes: at 300 DPI, a 4 × 6 inch print is 1200 × 1800 pixels. The photo is cropped to fit the chosen print size.
  • Changing format? Choose JPG, PNG or WebP as the output, or open the Image Converter for format changes.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about resizing images.

Will my image be exactly 20KB after resizing?

Not necessarily. This tool changes the width and height of an image, and a smaller image usually has a smaller file size, but the exact size depends on the picture, the format and the quality setting. Check the result, and use the Image Compressor if you need to reach a target file size.

Does resizing reduce image quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it much larger can look soft, because no new detail can be added.

What does keep aspect ratio do?

The image is scaled to fit inside your width and height without stretching.

Can I resize images for social media?

Yes. Enter the width and height you need, for example 1080 × 1080, and turn off aspect ratio if you want an exact size.

Can I resize several images at once?

Yes. Select several images together and they are resized with the same settings.
