Frequently asked questions
Formatting, scanned PDFs and privacy.
Will my formatting be kept?
No. Only the text is extracted into paragraphs. Fonts, columns, images and exact layout are not copied, so expect to re-format the document in Word.
Are tables converted?
Tables are not rebuilt. Their text may appear as plain paragraphs, so you will need to recreate the table in Word.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
This tool does not perform OCR. A scanned PDF is a picture of text and will give little or no text. Convert the pages to images and use the Image Text Converter instead.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so your PDF stays on your device.
Can I edit the converted file?
Yes. The downloaded .docx opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice.
