Image quality and file size tips
Reduce the file size without losing what matters.
- Photos: choose JPG or WebP. They usually give much smaller files than PNG for photographs.
- Graphics and screenshots: PNG keeps sharp edges but files are often larger. If the file is too big, try WebP or JPG.
- Lower the maximum width if the image is still too large. Fewer pixels usually means a smaller file.
- A very small target removes more detail. If the picture looks too soft, raise the target size or the maximum width.
- Always check the size shown after compression. Results depend on the picture, so a very detailed image may stay larger than a small target.
- Need exact dimensions instead? Use the Image Resizer to set a width and height, or the Image Converter to change the format.
