Useful formatting tips

Get a cleaner Word document from plain text.

One line, one paragraph

Press Enter wherever you want a new paragraph. Blank lines are kept as empty paragraphs, so remove extra ones if you want tighter spacing.

Pick a readable font

Calibri or Arial at 11โ€“12 pt suits most documents. Times New Roman and Georgia work well for formal text, and Courier New for code or notes.

Match your page size

Choose A4 for most countries or Letter for the US and Canada. Use wide margins (1 in) for printing and narrow margins to fit more text.

Add rich formatting later

This tool creates plain text only. Add bold, italics, headings, tables or images after downloading, in Word or Google Docs.
